Hello and welcome to another week of Marching Band! We are so excited for this season to pick up and can't wait for classes to begin this week! Our competition circuit, AzMBA, sent staff a reminder about the season and in their closing mentioned that there are only 118 days until State Championships. It's hard to think that our season will conclude in just over 100 days even though we just got it started; but, this is a great reminder for students of how quickly this activity moves and how much growth and success we will see in the coming months.

Some important details to note:

• As stated in the first Week at a Glance Newsletter, it is each family's responsibility to read through the below information by Monday. Please be prompt with payments, orders, and due dates so that your student does not become ineligible to perform.
• ATTENDANCE: Although Marching Band/Color Guard appear as an 8th-hour class on student schedules, students only attend evening Tues/Thurs rehearsals (see schedule contract or calendar). Attendance is recorded as follows: Monday attendance is based on the regular school day, Tuesday evening rehearsal counts for both Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday evening rehearsal counts for both Thursday and Friday.
• For example, missing Tuesday's rehearsal results in an absence for both Tuesday and Wednesday. If your student will miss an evening rehearsal, please notify the band directors so rehearsal grades can be recorded accurately and email the attendance secretary at Nicole.Heady@husd.org so the school's 8th-hour attendance record can be updated. Students with an excused absence (illness, family emergency, or school-sponsored activity) may recover rehearsal points by completing the makeup assignment on Canvas & at the front of the band rm. Absences not listed on your Schedule Contract and not communicated in advance will be unexcused. Three or more unexcused absences will cause a student to be ineligible to perform.
• Shoe & Glove Order: Please visit our BoosterHub Store to order your student their Marching Shoes and Gloves. All students need Marching Shoes (if they do not already have them). There are two types: Marching Band (Instrumentalists) & Color Guard. Wind Instrumentalists and Color Guard Members also need gloves. Please order the corresponding type based on their section/instrument. Percussionists do not need gloves. ORDERS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY (7/24)
• NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES ADDED: Please check out the volunteer spot on your BH Dashboard if you can help us machine wash our uniforms. Pickup will occur this Thursday (7/23) between 5:30pm-6:15pm & they will be dropped off the following Thursday (7/30) in the same timeframe.

• Wednesday (7/29): Early Release Day; Panera Bread Fundraiser 4pm-8pm (see flyer below)
• Tuesday (8/4): No Marching Rehearsal; HHS Curriculum Night 5pm-7pm
• Saturday (8/8): Unform Fitting 8am-12pm / Senior Banner Photos 8am-10am / DCI Viewing 5:30pm-8:30pm (Specific details will be sent out when we get into August)
• Tuesday (8/11): Marching Band CA Trip Info Meeting 5:30pm-6:30pm in HHS Media Center (Normal Marching Rehearsal to follow)
