Hello Families of our Higley Marching Knights!

We are now deep in the heart of August and have accomplished so much in this first full month of marching band. Our students have officially finished all music and marching for the opening of our field show, "Saturn's Returns." Next up is our ballad which is an arrangement of MUSE's "Blackout." Make sure to ask your marcher what their favorite part of learning our show has been so far.

Since football season and competitions are right around the corner make sure to read all the way through this newsletter and keep a close eye on the BH Calendar. Friday and Saturday events will start to pick up and we want to make sure that all families know our latest schedules.

Important Announcements:

• STUDENT PICKUP & PARKING: Please remember to park in a parking space each night when picking up your student. As the season gets busier this will help us ensure that your student can walk out to their car without too much cross-traffic.
• CAR WASH FUNDRAISER: What a great turn-out at the car wash! All together we raised just over $1000 that will be distributed across all participating students' accounts towards the Oct. CA Trip. We appreciate everyone's flexibility with the last minute changes that were thrown our way. Keep your eye out for our BoosterBucks fundraiser that students can send to friends and family around the world!
• SECTIONALS: Dates are currently in the calendar and all information about sectionals can be viewed here.
• CALIFORNIA MARCHING BAND TRIP: Thank you to all that attended our trip meeting! Reminder that the permission slip was due last Friday and that the final Payment is due by September 1st to the bookstore. If you missed the slides you can access them here.
• WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!: This Thursday is our first General Assembly meeting of the Higley Instrumental Association! Once a quarter we encourage all families to attend this meeting and help us support students across all instrumental classes. Learn about volunteer opportunities, weigh in on fundraising and travel topics, and hear about the great things scheduled for this year in music!

• Tuesday (8/18): Marching Band Rehearsal 5:30pm-9:00pm
• Wednesday (8/19): Colorguard Sectionals 2:30pm-4pm
• Thursday (8/20): Marching Band Rehearsal 5:30pm-9:00pm; HIA Quarter 1 General Assembly Meeting 6pm-7pm in the Media Center (All families encouraged to attend)
• Friday (8/21): Varsity Football Pep Rally 6pm-8pm
• Warm-up: 6pm-6:45pm
• Play Pep Tunes: 6:45pm-7:15pm
• U-Knighted Kingdom Social: 7:15pm-8:00pm
• All band families are invited to attend and meet the talented students in band, cheer, and football. Marching students will be meeting the sponsors that have fed and support the band since band camp, greet the cheer and football students we will be working with through the season, and enjoy some music and dancing with a live DJ. All marching students will be dismissed at 8pm.
• Saturday (8/22): NO MARCHING BAND EVENTS

• *NEW CALENDAR ADDITION* Thursday (8/27): Marching Band in Fall Sports Assembly 7:25am-10:20am (1st Hour & 2nd Hour)
• Thursday (8/27): First Football Game @ Queen Creek HS 5:30pm-10:30pm *Travel times subject to change*
• Friday (8/28): Marching Band Rehearsal (to supplement missing class time the day before) 5:30pm-9pm

We hope to see you on Thursday and/or Friday! Let us know what your favorite pep tune is so we make sure to play it lots! (Ours is "Knight Fight" because it means we get to support our football team's successes on the field!)
