Week at a Glance 9/14 - 9/19
Hello Families of our Higley Marching Knights!
Thank you to all who attended our first home game and especially to the help of our parent volunteers coming in through the week passing out shirts, moving equipment, and helping sell concessions. The band brought a high energy to the game that paid off with the football team winning 43-42 against Casteel! We look forward to keeping this momentum with a busy week including Tues./Thurs. Rehearsals, a Friday Night Lights Away Game, and our first competition run of our show on Saturday. Please ensure that you read all the way through this newsletter to know who, what, when, and where to be during this busy week.
Important Announcements:
- SATURN'S RETURN FAMILY SHOW SHIRTS: There is still time to order family show shirts! To purchase, please visit our BoosterHub Store and select "2026 Saturn's Return Family Show Shirt." Orders are open through Tuesday, September 15th so order soon. Help us fill the stands at games and competitions with Navy Blue to show your support for the Higley Marching Knights!
- SECTIONALS: Dates are currently in the calendar and all information about sectionals can be viewed here.
- MARCHING BAND HOODIES: Our Marching Arts Club Council has voted to offer hoodie orders for the colder months of the school year. Hoodie orders can be signed up in the band room and run through Friday, 9/18. Students that sign up for a hoodie will have a ~$25 (varies based on quantity ordered) fee charged to their InTouch account. Please check with your student to see if they ordered a Saturn’s Return Hoodie!
- PERFORMANCE HAIR CHECK: The first “performance hair check” will be Saturday, 9/19. Students whose hair reaches their neck and below must put their hair in a “Ballet Bun.” Students with hair past the ears, but not to the neck, must have their hair pinned, bunched, or braided towards the back of their head. All marchers must ensure there is no hair on their foreheads or bangs that get in their face. Part of competitions include judging the uniformity of how our ensemble looks; standardizing the front profile of our marchers will help ensure this. Color Guard will practice their hair style with their Captains. Specific details will be shared with students on Tuesday.
- As always, any pertinent questions can be emailed to steven.cheatham@husd.org or chesley.sharp@husd.org
