Hello Families of our Higley Marching Knights!

We are so excited to kickoff competition season and the judges had some great comments for how the students did! One judge was on the field with the ensemble and gave the group some great feedback while asking them their own thoughts on the show (picture 3 attached). Everyone put in great work and the show is really starting to come together! A HUGE thank you to all family members that came out to see the show, the many parent volunteers helping with Knight Crew, and the entire village it takes to help students get to and from events with all of their equipment and materials each day! We could not make such a memorable experience for the students without YOUR help and support!

Important Announcements:

• UNIFORM REMINDERS: Students should take special care with our 3 uniform parts: "Sound Matters Shirt" is the grey shirt that will be mostly worn on game day events underneath their full uniform; "Show Shirt" is the Navy Blue short sleeve shirt with the Saturn's Return Logo on the front mostly worn on competition day events; "Performance Tops (Winds/Perc.)/Costumes (Guard)" these are the long sleeve uniform pieces what will be worn over one of the other shirts (worn after costumes for guard); "Bibbers/Garment Bags" will be stored at the school and used to change into/out of uniforms at each performance.
• UNIFORM CARE & MAINTENANCE: Winds, Percussion, & Drum Major “Performance Tops” and Colorguard "Costumes" need extra care when washing/cleaning. Please adhere to these instructions for how to take care of these uniform parts after each weekend of wear.
• SECTIONALS: Only a few more percussion and colorguard sectionals left for Quarter 1! Information about Q1 sectionals can be viewed here. If you'd like to get ahead with Quarter 2 sectional dates you can access that information HERE.
• HOMECOMING REMINDER: This weekend is Homecoming weekend! We are excited to perform for all the Higley Alumni in the stands at the Football Game on Friday! Saturday is the Homecoming Dance and we are very fortunate to not have any marching band events. Have a fun and safe time at the dance if you are going!

Important Events this Week:

• Monday (9/21): Battery & Front Ensemble Sectionals 2:20pm-3:30pm
• Tuesday (9/22): Marching Band Rehearsal 5:30pm-9:00pm
• Wednesday (9/23): Guard Sectionals 2:30pm-4pm; Jazz Band Concert 7pm (optional)
• Thursday (9/24): Marching Band Rehearsal 5:30pm-9:00pm
• Friday (9/25): Morning Homecoming Assembly (1^st & 2^nd Hour) & Homecoming Football Game (5:15pm~9:35pm)
• *New Addition to Calendar* Homecoming Assembly- All students are excused from 1^st and 2^nd Hour
• 7:25 AM – Inspection in Band Room
• Meet in the band room for warm-up and tuning.
• Wear your SOUND MATTERS shirt with whatever pants/shorts and shoes you’re wearing to school that day
• You can change out of your shirt after if you want to.
• 7:35 AM – Warm-up & Tune
• 8:00 AM – Set up in the courtyard/cafe
• 8:15 AM - Begin performing
• We will be there for all 3 assemblies. 
• We play as students are entering AND exiting.
• After the last assembly you will put away your instrument, then go to 3rd hour.
• Homecoming Game vs. Cactus Canyon HS- Parent Spectators Purchase Tickets HERE- 5:15pm-9:35pm
• 5:15 PM – Inspection in the Band Room
• Wear your SOUND MATTERS shirt, shorts, black socks, & marching shoes.
• We will be wearing full uniform for Homecoming: You need your PERFORMANCE TOP and PERFORMANCE HAIR (Ballet Bun)
• Have your pep tunes music!!!
• 5:20 PM – Warm up, Tune, & Practice Show
• 5:45 PM – Front Ensemble & Soloists Out to the Field
• 6:00 PM – Get uniform from the uniform room
• 6:20 PM – Check tuning
• 6:35 PM – Form up and march out. 
• We need to be there to form the tunnel to bring the team onto the field.
• 7:00 PM – Game starts
• We will perform our show on the field at half time.
• 9:35 PM – Game ends
• March back to the band room and load or put away all the equipment
• Go home
• PLEASE NOTE The timing of this will depend on when the game finishes, but this is around when games are typically finished.
• REMEMBER THAT YOU REPRESENT HIGLEY HIGH AND OUR BAND PROGRAM, SO ACT ACCORDINGLY.
• Changes will be made to the schedule as necessary.
• Saturday (9/26): NO MARCHING BAND EVENTS- Homecoming Dance: Have fun and be safe if you’re going!
